Singles Edition: How to Enjoy Valentine’s Day

It’s that time of year again! Where the stores are all stocked up with chocolate, flowers, huge teddy bears (and I mean HUGE), love cards, and balloons. It's also that time of year where this day, shows whether you’re content with your singleness or not.

For a long time, I HATED Valentine’s day. I would make sure I stay off of social media, just so I would not see pictures of couples and gifts. I had to realize that it was an internal issue that only Jesus could fix. It was coming to the realization that my heart needed to be healed from previous hurt. It was coming to realize that being single can be a beautiful thing. A beautiful thing? Yes, being single is not a death sentence. It’s allowing God to work on your love story, while you currently fulfill your purpose NOW. But first, you have to give Him back the pen.

What do Singles do on Valentine’s Day Anyway?

Let’s make this clear. Just because you are single doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Valentine’s Day. Need some ideas? Take a look at three below:

  1. Outing at a restaurant with your friends, your family members, or even yourself! Get dressed in your favorite outfit and head out with some of your friends to dinner. Laugh and enjoy yourself amongst people you care about. You deserve it!

2. More of an introvert? Order some take out or cook a meal. Buy some of your favorite chocolate candy and watch a movie. I love to watch hallmark and lifetime movies. It’s such an amazing feeling to enjoy your own company.

3. Coordinate secret valentine’s gift exchange amongst your friends. Then, choose one of your homes to reveal who has who. This is a great way to have some fun in a comfortable home setting with people you love.

You deserve to be happy, with or without someone, so do everything in your power to make this holiday a positive occasion. Happy Valentine’s Day :)

XoXo,
